Edgar van Groningen, good friend and soon also crew member (we hope), did an scientific envirometal study for us what the best thing is to use at parties: beer-bottles or beer-cans. The report is in dutch and will be soon available online.
We cannot ignore the fact that people use certain drugs at parties. Maybe nice to know that Bart and Hylke from the crew are both also volanteer for UNITY, an organisation which informs people about the dangers of drugs at the big commercial dance events and houseparties.
At our events there was never any serious accident concerning drugs whatsoever. Dealing/pushing is not allowed, and our bar and shop is offering all kind of legal alternatives in the form of vitamines and drinks.
Hylke will follow a training for EHBO (First-Aid) diploma for us. She and other crew members did already a few first-aid trainings before, but this one is more extensively (17 lessons and every next year 7 extra) and recognized by the governement. We are also planning a lecture evening about fire-protection for decorators and organisers, where there will be somebody giving lucture from the Amsterdam fire department about regulations and precautions. Interested decorators are also welcome to apply for it by dropping a mail to us.
