Last weekend on October 16 we did it again: pulling a party in the centre of Amsterdam. this time on two cargo boats. We had over 400 ppl and although a lil’ taxing on our crew, you people behaved and follow directions very well and for that we thank you! The end result no one fell in the water nor got hurt.
The sound was killer, it seemed as if the boats became an extension of the speakers almost like an additional musical instrument. The main floor was on the Internos, a great place for 120-150 people and very well known by us: the captain and her husband (a fisher man) are great people to work with. In recent years, we have done about 10 other gigs with them.
The other boat (The Trawant) was a lucky coincidence to have it around: here we had a complete empty cargo-area without toilets and our little bar but because of that, more space. This resulted in a very, very packed main floor and a spacey room on the experimental floor. The main floor became too packed and we were forced (out of security issues) to move ppl to the experimental floor, where we asked the Dj’s to play more dance music, having a more balanced situation.
After everybody was on board everything became more relaxed and we banged and jumped the whole night. We even made a few little boat trips around the Java-eiland because we seemed to have chosen wrong spots every time. The first time we had squatters of the Afrika building who were afraid we would disrupt their sleep (hmm…) then we were lying on the spot of ‘Captain Cock’, and then we had a screaming guy in his underwear from another party boat, that he couldn’t have any sleep, plus we had polite-people visiting three times…
So much for our idea of “let’s have a little party” cuz we’re kind ‘a sick. In any case, if was good to see you all. We hope to do some more of this boat parties this winter, if you promise to behave just as good. We look forward to seen you on Nov. 6 for the HBR1 Benefit party.
